EX-rank’s Replay (112)

‘Jin…?’

Because the Jin in a red dress was wearing a net veil, only her lips and chin were visible.

Even though it was only this much, he couldn’t turn his eyes away from those scarlet lips.

“Wh-Who are you?!”

Audacious and arrogant Zhu Ganglie unconsciously spoke lowly[2].

She didn’t reply and approached Zhu Ganglie step by step.

“Ehem, as you can see, this one is currently in a bit of a difficult situation. If you help this one, I’ll give you a reward!”

“Reward?”

If you drop a ruby[3] into a silver cup, would such a sound come out?

At her one short word, Zhu Ganglie swallowed his saliva and spoke:

“Th-That’s right! I’m a divine creature among divine creatures, Zhu…”

When Zhu Ganglie was about to reveal his name, she raised one finger and brought it to his lips.

When her finger holding a superpower wave skimmed by Zhu Ganglie’s lips, unknown whether it touched them or not, and retreated, his lips were suddenly stuck together, and he couldn’t move them.

‘What is that…!?’

Zhu Ganglie tried to stir up a superpower wave inside of his body to resist, but it was too much for him to even just push forward the superpower wave, which was chaotic thanks to Forks.

Her finger slowly descended towards his stomach which stopped bleeding.

She mumbled as she caressed the wound with her fingertips.

“It’s not nine forks.”

Her tidy fingernails turned red and long.

‘Wa-Wait. You say nine forks…!’

Zhu Ganglie, who realized too late that something was strange, struggled to escape.

But when her fingernails brushed against him, the strength left his body.

“But I think I would rip you anew even if you were ripped apart by nine forks.”

Riiiip!

Her hand started to tear apart Zhu Ganglie’s stomach.

Because his lips were sealed, Zhu Ganglie couldn’t even make a sound and wriggled in terrifying pain.

Rip! Scratch! Rriiip!

After finishing chopping him into exactly nine parts, she pulled out her hand.

As if she covered her body in the superpower wave beforehand, not even one drop of blood tainted her white fingertips.

‘The hell… Why!?’

Zhu Ganglie couldn’t even faint and trembled, but she broke Zhu Ganglie’s device while smiling.

“This island’s current coordinates were manipulated. The coordinates you sent to your subordinate are pointing to an uninhabited island far away from here. Huhuhu, how long do you think it will take for your subordinate to find you?”

Zhu Ganglie’s spine turned cold.

Jin people possess self regeneration abilities, but Zhu Ganglie’s injuries were serious and there was no suitable energy source around.

It was a situation where he had to wait to be picked up by his subordinate.

However, there were more than 3 thousand islands on the Korean Peninsula.

His subordinates would be searching for him for a long time.

‘If only my body was in a perfect state, no, if only I had that junk rake, I wouldn’t suffer so absurdly!’

Zhu Ganglie tried to appeal to her, while wiggling his body, but the corner of her lips only drew an arc as she laughed happily.

Until the location of the moon changed greatly, she observed the sluggish Zhu Ganglie. Then, satisfied, she turned on her feet.

“Huhuhu.”

While she walked, the hem of the red dress fluttered in the sea breeze, and she laughed quietly.

When she kicked the sea and crossed a few islands.

She felt a presence and stopped walking.

“Thank you for letting me watch, Ungnyeo of Grief.”

The one who spoke up to Ungnyeo of Grief was the priest of one of 7 Deadly Sins Demon Gods, Invidius.

The Demon’s robe and forehead were engraved with eye-catching Invidius’ seals.

“I heard you also made a deal with that pig. Will it be fine even if you don’t help him?”

“The arrogant deal Zhu Ganglie suggested ended. Didn’t I personally extract the supernatural poison and did well handing it to him? I don’t have a duty to do anything more than that.”

Ungnyeo of Grief lightly tilted her head while staring at the grumbling priest of Invidius.

The priest of Invidius guided Zhu Ganglie to the island with manipulated coordinates and then informed Ungnyeo of Grief of its location.

Even though he completed all the deals today, the Demon looked very displeased.

“You don’t seem to be in a good mood, did something happen?”

Recently, Demons devoted their power to coming in addition to spying on the human world for pleasure.

At Ungnyeo of Grief’s words, the Demon said dissatisfied:

“It’s because of that higher being! You’re close with that ‘Dumb Eraser Bear’ right?! From a certain moment, I couldn’t see the deck properly. And I couldn’t see where Crow Mask disappeared!”

Irregular superpower wave gushed out from the Demon’s body, changing his robe to gray.

“And because there were two 12 Zodiac’s heads around, I couldn’t even raise the ‘3rd eye’ output! The deal with that pig was a complete failure. But considering that I could observe Crow Mask, at least it wasn’t a failure.”

The Demon asked in the direction of Ungnyeo, who had been quietly listening.

“Ungnyeo of Grief, how did you know that Zhu Ganglie would be humiliated today? Moreover, why did you make Zhu Ganglie into this?”

At the Demon’s question, Ungnyeo of Grief gripped the end of her red dress as she replied.

“There is a higher being which promised me that every time ‘he’[4] got hurt to inform me about when, where and why he got hurt.”

“He?”

“While I was worrying about how I should move after receiving a divine revelation, I received a hint from a higher being.”

Thanks to the item, which Crow Mask was going to use this time, being connected to the higher being, Ungnyeo of Grief could receive a divine revelation.

She recalled Red Wall Thief or Crow Mask, with whom she made a promise about Jeok-ho’s life.

However, soon her mind was completely filled with a red-eyed companion instead of Crow Mask.

“I wanted to return the pain he received. He was tormented by Heavenly God and me, it’s enough with just two.”

When those words ended, the conversation between the two was cut off.

Before the Demon spoke up, Ungnyeo of Grief bid him farewell.

“Then I shall be going, priest-ssi.”

There were still many things about Ungnyeo of Grief that the Demon was curious about, but thinking she may cut off their relationship if he dug deeper, he decided to withhold his questions.

Paaa.

The instant the heel of Ungnyeo of Grief’s red shoes touched the water surface, her image turned distant.

‘It’s the dress, which hides her identity and the shoes, which cross the sea, that she made all by herself, right? Amazing!’

The Demon admired inside of his heart the products worthy of the Ung Eight Immortals’ best item artisan.

Recalling the items she was equipped with, the Demon suddenly thought:

‘The red color really suits Ungnyeo of Grief. If she looks so well in that color, why doesn’t she wear it usually?’

While he thought that it would be nice if Ungnyeo of Grief was wearing red clothes the next time he met her, the Demon replayed the spectacle he saw today in his head.

Among the spectacles worthy of appreciating today, the one which remained in his memory the most were activities of a certain human.

‘Crow Mask…’

Crow Mask, a mere human, captured Zhu Ganglie and put his hands on the Nine Iron Teeth Rake as if it was some kind of magic[5].

And that scene was observed by numerous Demons like himself.

The Invidius’ priest mumbled with an excited face.

“There will be numerous bastards aiming for Crow Mask, what should I do!”

***

After putting the crow mask, voice changer and the clothes which became rags into the item window.

I changed into the tuxedo assembled at the Neuru and headed towards the stern, while checking the otherworld conquest information released by PlayerSAT-K.

‘The highest contributor is Iron Lock To Wonu?’

It wasn’t strange that my Playable Character became the highest contributor, but I was a little bit bothered.

‘Ju Su-hyeok’s master and senior brother[6], master Gwak and Ju Sugyeom joined the attack team, it would be difficult to raise the contribution.’

Especially Ju Su-hyeok’s second cousin hyung or senior brother, Ju Sugyeom.

In the game, he was pointed out as one of the sparring opponents Ju Su-hyeok had to do his best when fighting against.

My doubts were resolved the moment I arrived at the ship’s stern.

“I’m so sorry, because of me…!”

“It’s fine.”

“Even the blood spilled, how is it fine!?”

Oh Hyeji in the ripped dress skirt.

Ju Sugyeom in a tuxedo shirt wet with blood.

Cymopoleia’s ship’s doctor examining Ju Sugyeom.

Looking at them, I could roughly guess the situation.

‘While conquering the otherworld, Ju Sugyeom got hurt when defending Oh Hyeji, huh?’

I guess Oh Hyeji made a mistake, because she was wearing a tea length dress of a subtle length, which made it difficult to move.

‘Where did Ju Su-hyeok and Maeng Hyodon go?’

I didn’t see Ju Su-hyeok, but I immediately found Maeng Hyodon.

“Because of that, in order to precisely move the superpower wave based on the qi[7] flow passing through the abdomen…”

Maeng Hyodon was caught by a certain hanbok wearing ascetic.

In the corner of the promenade deck, Maeng Hyodon was listening to the hanbok ascetic’s lecture with a soulless expression.

Seeing that appearance, Maeng Hyodon was listening to all of it like a hogu[8] caught walking the road with ‘Do you know about Dao, sir?’.

“Ay.”

As if Maeng Hyodon was waiting, he spoke up, aiming for the gap when the ascetic stopped talking for a moment and fled in my direction.

“Vice president! What were you doing that you came only now?”

Even though Maeng Hyodon complained that I didn’t appear throughout the entire otherworld conquest, he was happy.

I guess the hanbok ascetic’s lecture was very boring.

“Ah, really, if only he wasn’t Ju Su-hyeok’s acquaintance, I would have fled earlier…Ack.”

Swish!

“Wait, where are you going! You should hear everything I have to say, right!”

The hanbok ascetic didn’t give up and chased after Maeng Hyodon, blocking his way forward.

I didn’t know his identity, but the footwork that crossed the distance between him and Maeng Hyodon didn’t seem like that of an ordinary person.

When Maeng Hyodon made a terrified face.

“Tak hyung, what business do you have with a student?”

“No, so, that…”

“This student just finished an otherworld conquest. Even if you have something to talk about, you should take it slowly, correct?”

“Because you’re a guy with many useful disciples, you can spare time, can’t you!”

“Yes, yes. Let’s talk later. Students can go. Let us settle that.”

The one to calm down the situation was Ju Su-hyeok’s teacher, master Gwak.

‘Was this ascetic master Gwak’s friend?’

It seemed that Tak-ssi was older, but somehow master Gwak looked more mature.

Hanbok ascetic Tak-ssi continued to stare at Maeng Hyodon with regretful eyes, but master Gwak blocked the gap between us, who decided to head towards the cabin.

“If you’re caught by such a person in the future, tell them ‘I don’t believe in Dao[9]’ and then run.”

“What is that sound?”

While I informed Maeng Hyodon about the persistence of peddlers and pseudos, Ju Su-hyeok joined us.

Ju Su-hyeok said he went to meet his younger cousin Ju Suri.

“It seemed that Suri was a bit shocked by this incident, so I went to calm her down.”

In the game, Ju Suri was harassed by malicious comments because of the Baseball Stadium Incident, so she always had a depressed face.

Hearing what Ju Su-hyeok said, it seemed that she was growing up into an ordinary, spoiled, younger sibling on a relative’s side.

As we approached the cabin, we saw Jang Namuk and To Sihu waiting for us in the corridor.

“Are you hurt anywhere? Uisin, what were you doing? I was worried because no message about Unknown Supernova participating in the conquest came up. I’m glad you’re safe.”

“You worked hard, guys.”

Jang Namuk started nagging the moment he saw us.

To Sihu’s complexion improved as if his sea sickness calmed down.

While receiving the two’s greetings, we entered the cabin.

“Then did the otherworld without warning phenomena appear again?”

Each of the five of us grabbed a seat on the sofa.

Ju Su-hyeok and Maeng Hyodon played an active role in the otherworld conquest as the defense team, but not everyone could be as happy as they would like.

“In the past, there was a time completely without satellites, but in the end, we got through it well, you know? It will work out somehow. Hahaha!”

“Hearing that bastard’s words, I’m even less relaxed.”

“I heard that the Player’s Association is in the middle of an investigation, so countermeasures should come out soon, right?”

I couldn’t say it here, but countermeasures were certainly being prepared.

‘Ok Toyeon observed ‘Otherworld Summoning’ of Dark Mastermind up close again during this incident. Precision should be raised. If they only make a technical partnership with the Association, we will be able to completely block Dark Mastermind’s move.’

At that moment, a message sent by the crew arrived at the device and simultaneously, the ship started moving.

“Ah, the ship is moving. Where is it going?”

“Sailing notice came up. We’re returning to Incheon Port.”

“It can’t be helped as we were caught by the otherworld without warnings and in the natural superpower wave outbreak phenomena. It’s a pity we won’t be able to visit Ju-Oh Island.”

“The boat is moving again, it’ll be swaying again, huh?”

To Sihu had an expression saying he was dying as if his sea sickness had already come.

To Sihu laid down in bed and couldn’t move, but the remaining four of us had an all-night talk until we arrived at the Incheon Port.

The main topic was Ju Su-hyeok and Maeng Hyodon’s Enemy sweep.

The two displayed a heroic tale of overpowering Enemies while using their Gwangrims to their hearts’ content.

‘As expected, worthy of the best close combat cheat-characters.’

Even though Jang Namuk was bitter as he couldn’t play an active role at all, he listened diligently while asking questions.

Just hearing about their experiences would help in Jang Namuk’s growth.

‘Jang Namuk commanded a mass game without even a small slip-up in front of several generals. If he only overcomes his fear of Enemies, he will be a good Player.’

It was difficult to gloss over when the topic changed to ‘Why Jo Uisin didn’t appear’, but it wasn’t a bad experience of staying up all night while sailing on the night sea.

When we arrived at Incheon Port, the day was already bright.

At the Association’s request, the Players participating in the conquest were going to the Association, and the rest were allowed to go home.

“Let’s make sure to visit Ju-Oh Island next time. I’ll invite you.”

“Let’s go together during summer vacation! Extra for this member!”

“Sihu, we will have to ride the boat again, will it be okay?”

After touching the ground, as if his spirit was lifted, To Sihu started to plan the trip with a pale face.

This easy-going guy’s only weakness may be sea sickness.

‘Should I ride an air taxi?’

As Maeng Hyodon planned to go to the Association, I was going to the school alone.

When I finished my goodbyes with the children and headed towards the air taxi parking lot.

“I was waiting.”

In front of an air limousine.

Stood Hwang Myeong-ho’s secretary smiling as if she was wearing a mask.

“Hwangho-nim said to accompany You to the mansion.”

I didn’t feel like going.

There was a lot I had to talk about.

But I hadn’t organized my thoughts yet and was exhausted because I used a lot of superpowers.

In addition, I was currently in a state where I didn’t get even a wink of sleep, and the last time when I parted with Hwang Jiho, he was pissed off[10].

‘Can’t I see him tomorrow?’

When I was worried about how to postpone the appointment.

The secretary, as if reading my thoughts, added a word.

“They said that the divine beast is waiting.”

“Let’s go.”

I climbed into the air limousine straight away.

*~*~*

[1] No title – Boat party under the moonlight (7)

[2] spoke lowly – in the meaning that he used an impolite tone. Like really, really impolite. Like it has a ‘who the fuck are you’ feeling. Imagine an arrogant nobleman speaking to a peasant. I just can’t stress enough how he shouldn’t use that tone here.

[3] ruby – red jade (홍욱 hong-uk) in raws, it’s an old name, not used in modern times. It is also a species of apple (jonathan), but it is probably just a fun fact.

[4] ‘he’ – It actually could be also interpreted as ‘that’/ ‘it’. Also, because 80% of Korean’s pronouns are gender-neutral, it could also be interpreted as ‘she’. From the context, the demon probably understands Ungnyeo is talking about a person, but that’s about it.

[5] magic – in the meaning of something being so incredible, one doesn’t know how to do it.

[6] senior brother – 사형 (sa-hyeong) is a martial art term for an older disciple of the same school, who completed his training earlier.

[7] qi – I usually translate it as energy, but for this instance, I’ll use qi as it is also a correct translation.

[8] hogu – pushover, someone very easy to scam.

[9] ‘I don’t believe in Dao’ – could also be interpreted as ‘I don’t trust Dao’.

[10] he was pissed off – So this sentence makes it a bit unclear who was pissed off? Jo Uisin or Hwang Jiho. There is a high possibility it was Hwang Jiho, but because the subject of the sentence should be Jo Uisin, I’m not sure.

Translator’s note: Oh, Zhu Ganglie, Zhu Ganglie, I almost pity you… almost.

Did you see a mistake? 🐞

  1. Ungyeo of Grief is so cool!
And you Uisin should be prepared for a long scolding.

    1. Yep~ She is a queen.

      1. ‘Zhu Ganglie’ directly means *Zhu disabled d**k* in our language. 🙂

    What does dao mean?

Thank you for the chapter (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)

    1. Dao means way, and refers to the invisible force that is responsible for innerworkings of everything which exist. To understand Dao or believe in Dao, is to understand the Truth and live with harmony with the Universe. Or in other words, it’s a main concept of Taoism (Uh, Tao here could also be read as Dao, they’re the same thing, English just doesn’t work for this sound). You can find similar concepts in Buddhism and Hinduism.
That said, Dao in fantasy novels, and especially in marital art novels can be very different form what I described it. It’s a philosophy, so people’s takes on it will differ. It’s hard to say what Dao may exactly mean in this novel.

      Thanks for reading <3
