24. 2 days without night (2)
The first to move was Hwang Jiho.
“Jeok-ho!”
Paaat!
Hwang Jiho opened his power and ran towards Jeok-ho.
Hwang Jiho left a golden afterimage as he moved.
It was such a speed that it would’ve been believable if he said that he teleported.
“Why are you like this?! What happened?!”
Hwang Jiho half-raised Jeok-ho’s body.
The source of bleeding was his abdomen.
It seems that he applied hemostasis and hid the injury with the Red Smoke.
Recalling the scene of the blood soaked entrance, I could form an idea of how serious the injury was even without seeing it.
‘Even with this degree of injury, he escaped the Don tribe and managed to come here!’
Seeing as Hwang Jiho and Baek Ho-gun didn’t react, it seemed there was no pursuit.
Paaa—!
The bleeding injury was dyed by golden light and the blood stopped.
The wound wasn’t healed, it was just bleeding that stopped.
He didn’t use a healing superpower, so Hwang Jiho seemed to put hemostasis with magic.
“Are there any other injuries? Jeok-ho, tell me if there is a problem somewhere.”
Was it because the injury was big enough that Jeok-ho couldn’t even stand?
He couldn’t easily answer and was breathing deeply, then he opened his mouth:
“I’m fine. I didn’t leave a trace on the Don tribe’s side. Don’t worry…”
“Who is worrying about that?!”
Hwang Jiho shouted with an angry voice.
This time it was Jeok-ho who was in the wrong.
Jeok-ho looked up at Hwang Jiho with eyes which were losing focus and opened his mouth again:
“Hwang-ho, if it comes to the worst, that child… the contract…”
Contract?
What is that sound?
He was talking, but it seemed that his mind was unsound because of the injury.
Beyond that, there wasn’t even one word about his own situation and injuries.
The words which came out were mostly about ‘that child’, who lived for over 5 thousand years, his descendant Kim Sinrok.
‘It would be better if he just rests.’
Hwang Jiho seemed to think the same as me as he gritted his teeth.
“Only useless sounds are coming out from the current injured you.”
Hwang Jiho pressed his finger to Jeok-ho’s forehead.
Particles of golden light spread out from Hwang Jiho’s fingertip.
Pat!
As if Jeok-ho was resisting, his red eyes emitted a thin red supernatural wave.
However, Jeok-ho couldn’t endure for long and closed his eyes.
The red supernatural wave emitted by Jeok-ho disappeared at Hwang Jiho’s fingertip.
Paaa….
“There, you foolish bastard.”
Holding Jeok-ho who slumped without power with one hand, Hwang Jiho sighed.
The fingertip of Hwang Jiho, which touched Jeok-ho’s forehead, changed to red.
“He was injured after discovering movements of the Don tribe. However I hear it, didn’t he get caught in the Don tribe’s trap?”
As if he planned to move Jeok-ho as he was, Hwang Jiho wrapped him in a light of golden particles and raised in the air.
I, who was only observing the situation until now, opened my mouth for the first time.
“Wait. Aren’t you going to perform first aid?”
“Yeah, I only closed the wound with my power.”
Why aren’t you going to cure him?
Even though Hwang Jiho didn’t possess curing supernatural powers, there were numerous other ways.
Because it was a world where recovery items existed.
“Don’t you have recovery items among your reserves? I have nothing but SR ranks, but for the priority of first aid usage I can…”
“It’s useless.”
Hwang Jiho interrupted me with a stiff voice.
Even though the SR rank recovery item couldn’t heal this degree of injury in one go, it was much better than not using it at all.
“The recovery items don’t respond to Jeok-ho.”
“Why?”
It was an information I heard for the first time.
“Long time ago, Jeok-ho’s descendant, Kim Sinrok, had an incident. It happened when he was tied to Red Rack after committing a mortal sin. As a result of it, to cover for Kim Sinrok, Jeok-ho pledged to put one more restriction on him to Heavenly God, and Heavenly God agreed.”
Kim Sinrok had an incident?
I was bothered by what may have happened then, but now Jeok-ho’s recovery came first.
I suddenly recalled the moment when I previously checked Jeok-ho’s status window in my head.
‘Besides Heavenly God’s Wrath, there was an additional abnormal status.’
I looked at Jeok-ho who closed his eyes and opened the Exclusive Menu.
⟨Reading ‘Jeok-ho’ character data.⟩
[Name] Jeok-ho
[Title] Ho tribe member of legendary category
[Blessing] None
[Gwangrim] (inactive)
[Status] Heavenly God’s Wrath – part of skills and Gwangrim are sealed, all statistics and skill level drastically reduced, Foreseen Hell — (some loading failed), seriously injured, fainted
‘Heavenly God’s Wrath’ was an abnormal status identical to Baek Ho-gun’s.
Baek Ho-gun in the game had no restriction on using recovery items.
If so, then that ‘Foreseen Hell’ abnormal status had to be the problem.
‘Foreseen Hell… There are no clues. And there is also a message ‘some loading failed’. Currently, removing this abnormal status and using recovery items would be difficult.’
I gave up on using recovery items.
Then came up with the second best solution, skills.
“If so, what about using healing superpowers? Aren’t there Jin people possessing healing skills among the Ho tribe?”
“There are, but it doesn’t work. ‘Foreseen Hell’ is a personal constraint Heavenly God put on Jeok-ho with Jeok-ho’s approval. The skills of humans or Jin people don’t respond.”
If you say the skills don’t respond, there is one option left.
“If so, then let’s call a person who uses the Healing category Gwangrim which was empowered by a Higher Being.”
“I also thought about it. However, even healing skills are rare, but healing Gwangrims are even rarer. There are no identical Gwangrims in this world. Higher beings don’t lend their powers to Gwangrim to more than one person. It doesn’t change until the person who received the power dies or abandons the power.”
I was also aware of it.
Before I could say anything, Hwang Jiho’s words continued.
“Asking for help won’t be simple. Current Hwang Myeong Group can only recruit the Chinese Player who uses Gwangrim of the god of agriculture, medicine and healing herbs ‘Flame Emperor Shennong[1]’ of Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, but the contact…”
“Calm down, Hwang Jiho.”
Was he so careless about school management that he couldn’t grasp what kinds of Players were at Eungwang School?
If it’s not that, then it seemed that his head didn’t work very well because severely injured Jeok-ho was in front of him.
“There is a person at our school. There is a Player who borrows the power of Panacea… No, Acea. I’ll contact her.”
In the game, she abandoned that rare blessing and Gwangrim, but right now she is an amazing Player, who polishes her healing superpower she still possesses.
Hwang Jiho was speaking while making an expression like he lost his energy.
Then it seemed that Hwang Jiho also recalled who the person I was speaking about was.
“Right, it seems there was. There was? What a stupid bastard I am.”
The god of healing art in the Greek Pantheon, Asclepius.
He is the god, whose snake wrapped cane he used is recognized enough to be used as the symbol of medicine even in the present world.
Asclepius had three sons and five daughters with Epione.
Those eight children all became gods related to the healing art.
Among those five daughters, one of them was Panacea.
‘In this world, the ‘pan’ meaning ‘all’ was lost from the name and Acea was left, but her being a goddess of healing didn’t change.’
In our school, there was a person who received a blessing of that Acea and used the Gwangrim empowered by her.
Currently Eungwang School’s 3rd year and the Student Council secretary.
Healing Frenzy Yu Sang-hui.
“I’m contacting her.”
“Okay.”
Even though I knew Hwang Jiho wouldn’t refuse, I asked for the confirmation.
It wasn’t long after I sent a message to Yu Sang-hui with the device, when a reply came.
“She wasn’t sleeping yet. And she is able to come to school. I’ll send her an air taxi.”
It was past midnight but luckily, Yu Sang-hui who was still awake agreed straight away.
I decided against calling Yu Sang-hui to the Hwang Myeong-ho mansion and moving Jeok-ho too far, so I called her to school.
“Where in the school are we going to meet with her?”
“In Silver Light Building. My secretary will wait at the main gate with the air shuttle. Let’s go straight away.”

After Jo Uisin and Hwang-ho left the mansion with injured Jeok-ho.
Baek-ho and the divine beast were left in this place.
Even if he followed the two, there was nothing Baek-ho could do and in this situation he couldn’t go away, leaving only Eun-ho’s descendants in the mansion, so it was natural.
Kuung….
In that natural situation, Baek-ho didn’t even twitch and stared at the bloodstains left by Jeok-ho.
Woof, woof-woof!
Beside unmoving Baek-ho, the divine beast tried to draw his attention.
It rubbed its head or grabbed the hem of his pants, or jumped towards his knees to look, but Baek-ho didn’t give it even a glance.
— Woof!
When the divine beast barked, filling it with divinity.
Baek-ho at last turned to look at the divine beast.
After getting Baek-ho’s attention, the divine beast was showing its charms again as if it never used its divine powers.
Baek-ho stretched his hand towards the divine beast to pet it but stopped.
“…”
Inside of the fist he continued to clench before.
The skin was a horribly torn mess because of excessively applied power.

Silver Light Building, reception room.
The door opened and two people entered.
One was the secretary, which I had seen before in the chairman’s office and during the April Fool’s incident, who smiled like she was wearing a mask.
The other person was Yu Sang-hui.
“Hello, senior Yu Sang-hui-nim. You weren’t going to sleep perhaps, right?”
“Hi, Uisin. The Student Council has a lot of work because of the school exchange with Military Academy and the problems with resolving conflicts between Art clubs. I was thinking of staying all night, so it’s fine.”
Looks like I called her when she was busy.
Wasn’t it even worse than calling someone who was about to sleep?
“Sorry for inconveniencing you when you’re busy, senior-nim.”
“What inconvenience are you talking about? We got indebted to you a lot in the meantime. Finally, an opportunity to pay seems to come, so I’m happy.”
Yu Sang-hui smiled softly as she looked around.
“You’re in the same class as Uisin, Jiho, right? Hi.”
“Hello.”
Hwang Jiho was speaking with manners?
I usually also saw him use a polite tone towards Ham Geun-hyeong, but I felt a fresh sense of incongruity.
“Okay, Jiho. The Person to cure is behind you?”
Yu Sang-hui looked at the unconscious Jeok-ho was laying down on the sofa in the reception room as she spoke.
Hwang Jiho nodded.
“Yes, I’ll make sure to compensate you.”
“There is no need for compensation. It’s Uisin’s and his class friend’s request, I naturally have to help.”
She was called to the school’s chairman’s office in the middle of the night, and in that place she was asked to cure an injured person.
She had to think it was strange, but Yu Sang-hui didn’t dig deep.
“My Gwangrim can be a bit rough in the process, so… the chairman’s office may turn into a mess. Is it okay to use it here?”
“I’ll put up a barrier. Please use it here.”
“I heard that chairman Hwang Myeong-ho-nim is proficient in Barrier Art, but… I guess the relatives are also the same. Even the 1st years are excellent, huh? Then I’ll request it.”
It’s not a relative, but the same person.
“I’ll put on the barrier.”
As he didn’t open his power, Hwang Jiho made a simple barrier.
His hair and eyes were dark brown like before, but the color of the superpower wave was golden.
Paat!
After Hwang Jiho confirmed activation of the barrier wrapped around Yu Sang-hui and Jeok-ho.
Yu Sang-hui unfolded her Gwangrim.
Shaaa—!
The supernatural wave flowing like the wind started to surround Yu Sang-hui.
The flow of the supernatural wave pushed Yu Sang-hui’s long hair up into the air.
When the Gwangrim fully activated, Acea’s authority descended on Yu Sang-hui’s body.
At the same time, the pressure of the superpower wave lingering around Yu Sang-hui grew stronger and it looked as if she called a tornado.
‘Because of this Gwangrim, she received the nickname ‘Healing Frenzy[2], huh?’
I heard Hwang Jiho burst into admiration.
“Cool.”
When Yu Sang-hui wrapped the wind filled with shooting particles of light around Jeok-ho.
⟨Skill ‘Power of Fate’ activated.⟩
I saw a system message informing about activation of Power of Fate.
My mind was lost and my concentration was scattered because of Jeok-ho’s injury and Yu Sang-hui’s Gwangrim.
I couldn’t respond straight away.
‘Are you saying Power of Fate activated here, right now? Should I activate Player’s Trajectory? If I activate it, what character should I use…’
In the end, it seemed my decision was a bit too late.
“Wait!”
Hwang Jiho shouted something, but before that, Yu Sang-hui’s wind split into two branches and shot out.
One towards Jeok-ho.
And one towards me.

[1] Flame Emperor Shennong – this translator really lacks in the sphere of Chinese mythology knowledge, so maybe there is a more proper translation of his name to English. In Korean, Shennong is sometimes called 염제 신농씨 or what was used in raws: 염제신농. The translation would be: ‘Flaming god of agriculture/harvest’, while 염 literally meaning the light of a burning flame. Shennong stands for ‘신농’, so the god of agriculture.
[2] Healing Frenzy – reminder, Yu Sang-hui’s nickname can be also translated as ‘Healing Wild Wind’.
Translator’s note: Huh… If I think about it, it should be the first time Hwang-ho sensed the Power of Fate… Yet he still panics.
Did you see a mistake? 🐞
