EX-rank’s Replay (449)

Translator: Wan ED/PR: Personal Ghost

66. Another candidate (1) [1]

Corporal Gye, dog corporal, Sergeant Gye, dog sergeant, ‘Gye’fucker[2].

Expressions varied, but all of them pointed to one thing.

The senior solider, who made my already difficult army life even more difficult.

He only refrained from using direct violence, instead he nagged me in all kinds of ways and ordered me to do all kinds of things I didn’t have to do, until I couldn’t even properly sleep.

‘Gye’fucker was harassing only me.

Even the other cadets, who at first thought ‘I’m glad that lunatic didn’t latch onto me’, began to feel sympathy for me.

‘Then the story about my chess player record started to circulate.’

Why did that ‘Gye’fucker latch onto Jo Uisin?

As the people looked for a reason, my chess player career was naturally revealed.

Perhaps because it was a small social circle, rumors spread immediately.

— I guess it’s because Private Jo was famous.

— That kid was famous?

—… that chess prodigy! He even won a few international tournaments when he was young, so should he be exempt from duty?

— He must have voluntarily enlisted.

As the rumors spread, a story started to circulate that ‘Gye’fucker was a chess player defeated by me, or an aspiring player, who felt an inferiority complex towards me.

There were no one or two trashes, who just thought of pulling me down without even studying the game records, so it was a plausible theory.

However, ‘Gye’fucker had no idea about chess rules and I didn’t recognize him as any former chess player.

So why the hell was he like this?

— Isn’t it because of after-effects of the traffic incident?

— What the hell is the relation between a traffic incident and grilling a junior solider?

— Because of the incident he received a few plastic surgeries, but after-effects remain and so his face is a bit…

His features were somewhat strange — it was the after-effect of an incident?

As his limbs were intact, I couldn’t even imagine it.

I simply thought that the appearance of his face was a reflection of his nasty nature.

If he had large burn scars left, or he was judged as disabled due to facial muscles problems, he would be exempt from the army, so it was truly a pity.

Both for that bastard, and me.

‘What is the relation between grilling me and having his face ruined in the incident?’

I had my doubts, but aren’t there many illogical things in the world?

In the end I suffered unreasonable grilling until the day ‘Gye’fucker was discharged.

That bad relationship ended, as that bastard was discharged first.

After entering the society, I was by chance almost involved in some annoying things.

However, I — truly — have thought that I would never see that bastard again.

Until this very moment when I heard the person in Eungwang School with a surname Gye speak for the first time.

‘Is it really the ‘Gye’fucker? Is the Eungwang School’s Earthly Wings Council’s president Gye Idam in front of me that ‘Gye’fucker I know?’

It was the voice my ears recognized very well, and it instinctively instigated my anger.

Of course, it was the same voice so it must mea… no, there was no proof that Gye Idam was the ‘Gye’fucker.

However, it was not only a voice, but Gye Idam’s speech speed, manner of speaking, voice pitch, etc. were all the same as the ‘Gye’fucker.

I seriously doubted if the two’s voices and surnames could be the same by coincidence.

‘He didn’t say a word in front of me, but it seems that he speaks quite well in front of other people.’

I knew it seeing Bak Seung-hyeon’s reaction.

If the usually reticent Gye Idam suddenly spoke up, he would be bewildered.

But Bak Seung-hyeon seemed to be familiar with talking with Gye Idam.

In addition, there was the shocked expression he made the second he discovered me, that was the deciding factor.

He was obviously avoiding letting me hear his voice.

I hated to believe it, but I drew a conclusion.

‘There was another candidate besides Eun-ho, huh!’

And from all the people it was that ‘Gye’fucker.

His common repertoire when grilling me was ‘moron playing the national gamewreck’, so I guess ‘Gye’fucker was also a moron.

And he was a real moron that saw the ending in the similar time me and Cheon Seong-heon.

‘His name and face are similar, but not enough that you could recognize him right away.’

The position of the ‘Unnamed supporting character’ that appeared in the tutorial was prepared for the ‘Suitable Other Dimension Future Modification’, but it didn’t seem to be so for the suitable candidates.

When Eun-ho was transferred to this world, didn’t he become ‘Cheon Eunha’ rather than Cheon Seong-heon?

In this context, ‘Gye’fucker became ‘Gye Idam’ instead of using the name I remember.

‘Then was this his face before the traffic incident?’

Gye Idam’s face right now probably was what ‘Gye’fucker looked like before the incident.

As he became quite younger, and his hairstyle and the clothes he wore became all different, I couldn’t recognize.

In addition, because I judged that there was no way that ‘Gye’fucker was here, I couldn’t have thought about the two as the same person.

But as I gathered the clues and my thinking progressed, Gye Idam started to look exactly like ‘Gye’fucker.

Looking closely at Gye Idam, his rather big and sharply shaped eyes held some resemblance to the ‘Gye’fucker.

‘There are many things I want to ask.’

The Transcendent Universe, Suitable candidate, PMH, life as Gye Idam… I had many things to ask.

But because old anger and annoyance was surging in me, words didn’t come.

‘Were you keeping your mouth shut until now?’

Suddenly I didn’t like anything related to Gye Idam.

I originally hated Gye Idam in his days as ‘Gye’fucker, but now I hated Gye Idam too.

I had no idea if he had any shame to clear PMH, which he was happy to roast as a gamewreck.

And I hated that he invaded this world and was shamelessly taking on the role of a representative of the student government organization.

On that topic, I also disliked how he kept his mouth shut, afraid to reveal his identity.

“Uisin-ah? Idam hyung?”

Perhaps because of serious atmosphere between me and Gye Idam, Bak Seung-hyeon spoke up hesitantly.

Now that I think about it, that ‘Gye’fucker said something about not closing the door a moment ago.

I guess it’s not so much that dog habits die hard, but that prick habits can’t be fixed.

That bastard was the president of the Earthly Wings Council, to which my Playable Character belonged to?!

If I knew that Gye Idam was ‘Gye’fucker, I would have never voted on that bastard during the Earthly Wings Council’s election.

I was diligently searching my head for a system to denounce the president of the Eungwang School’s self-govern organization, when:

“… I’m sorry for that time.”

Gye Idam was the first to break the silence.

As if he knew that it looked wrong, he apologized first.

If I didn’t find out, he would keep his mouth shut until the end, and naturally wouldn’t apologize.

It was an apology without even an ounce of sincerity.

It was worthless to accept.

Opportunely, it seemed that ‘Gye’fucker didn’t plan to make excuses after having his identity revealed, so I decided to ask about the doubt I have thought about before.

“Was it You, who had posted those malicious comments under those articles?”

It was wrong to doubt a person without any evidence.

But I had a strong conviction.

Every time I saw a particular ID posting all those malicious comments under every article related to PMH, I thought about that bastard.

Because besides the ID, the foul language and nitpicking faults were also exactly like that ‘Gye’fucker.

“I mean were You kye777ing, who posted malicious comments under every related article.”

“Uh? Idam hyung a malicious commenter?”

Bak Seung-hyeon looked at Gye Idam with a flustered face.

Yeah, Bak Seung-hyeon quickly learning the identity of that ‘Gye’fucker was a road for the future.

If Gye Idam replied ‘No’ here, I planned to use superpowers or something else to shove that bastard into a lie detector.

“… Sorry.” [3]

As if he knew that I wouldn’t easily let it go, Gye Idam obediently confessed.

I expected it, but having him confirm it in front of my eyes, I was so pissed I couldn’t even describe it.

The lunatic malicious commenter, who left malicious comments under every PMH article was in fact a PMH user!

What’s more, he was a stagnant water, who cleared even the final chapter!

I spoke as calmly and quietly as I could.

“If one apology could solve everything, why would there be law and violence?”

Of course, law and violence couldn’t be put side by side.

However, weren’t there otherworlds and Enemies, natural disasters, etc., in this world about which nothing could be done with the power of law? [4]

There were situations where you unavoidably had to use physical power, and that was the very moment.

“Ah, a peaceful evening after such a long time.”

“Are there any waffles Hyeon-gu bought left?”

“There were a few left a moment ago.”

“Anyone wants to play VR fighting game?”

I heard voices conversing in the distance.

As if everyone slowly finished their dinner, the dormitory students started to gather around the Earthly Wings Hall.

Among them, the very first to arrive in the Earthly Wings Hall was the previous Earthly Wings Council’s president, Seong Siwan.

“Uh, Uisin, you came early. If I had known, I would have asked to eat dinner together…. What’s going on?”

Seong Siwan, who joyfully spoke up to me, stopped talking sensing the tense atmosphere.

Before more people came, I spoke to Gye Idam.

“Rank insignia… no, take off your name tag and let’s fight.”

Gye Idam reluctantly nodded.

Bak Seung-hyeon, who watched this scene with a blank expression, said:

“… Ah, Uisin-i was also a class 0.”

* * *

Central zone, Student Council Hall.

Yeom Junyeol, who finished the Student Council work earlier than expected, took the road home.

Today, Tao Wonu and Yu Sang-hui sent a message to all Student Council’s members, who were worried about them, and thanks to that message, the work was dealt with faster.

It seemed that everyone gained strength hearing that the two were safe.

‘If I had known it would be like this, I would have asked to meet and give gifts today.’

Yeom Junyeol belatedly prepared birthday gifts for Jo Uisin.

There were two gifts.

One gift, for his master Red Wall Thief, that he made personally.

The other, the gift for junior Jo Uisin, was an item he requested to be created by the Yong tribe, following Yong Jegeon’s suggestion.

Perhaps because they took time, the level of perfection was high, but it bothered him that it was quite a while since his birthday.

He wanted to give him the gifts, even if it was just a day faster, but the situation wasn’t favorable.

‘I asked to see Him tomorrow, with a thought of having a meal together, but… Should I contact Him now? No, suddenly changing the appointment like this is a bit awkward, and I won’t able to reserve a restaurant…’

At the end of his worries, Yeom Junyeol decided against contacting Jo Uisin.

Instead, he decided to take a stroll around the central zone to kill time.

Yong Jegeon, who decided to return home with him, was welcoming a new club member at Stalemate.

He could ask Yong Jegeon for understanding and go back first, but Yeom Junyeol decided to wait.

‘Jegeon hyung waits for me every time, so I should wait today.’

While Yeom Junyeol strolled along a comfortable walking trail, he heard students chatter.

The students were browsing their device holograms, so they probably had Eungwang School general bulletin board opened.

“Class 0 kid is fighting with Gye Idam!”

“With the Earthly Wings Council’s president?”

“Ye!”

Yeom Junyeol smiled bitterly.

Eungwang School people really loved watching fights.

It was because as everyone were pretty skilled, they were enjoyable to watch, and you could learn things, while watching superpower spars.

‘Idam-i is working hard too.’

It was obviously a story about the 2nd year class 0 or 3rd year class 0 causing ruckus in the residential zone again and about the Earthly Wings Council.

As such, it wasn’t a story of one or two days when Gye Idam faced against the class 0’s students.

It wasn’t just Yeom Junyeol who thought like this, it seemed that everyone thought it was the students of 2nd year or 3rd year class 0.

“2nd year? 3rd year?”

“No, the 2nd year class 0 went to do beforehand survey for the winter outing today, and the 3rd year class 0 is in the middle of everyday bulking up challenge.”

“Then 1st year?”

“Ah, many of those kids are attending school these days… who is it?”

“If Miro is fighting I want to go see it.”

A kid from 1st year class 0 was fighting with Gye Idam?

Hearing those words, Yeom Junyeol worried about Jo Uisin right away.

‘Uisin-i has to work hard, huh? Even thought the 1st year class 0’s kids are rather meek, it must not be easy to both manage class and do Red Wall Thief’s activities.’

But Yeom Junyeol’s worries instantly evaporated when he heard the words that followed.

“The opponent of Gye Idam… is the 1st year class 0’s vice president, Unknown Supernova!”

*~*~*

[1] Another candidate — ‘candidate’ can also mean ‘big reward/repayment’, ‘news conveying on the progress of something already reported’ and ‘retribution or reward for evil and good deeds after three lives’.

[2] ‘Gye’fucker — 계(gye) and 개(gae, dog) sounds almost the same. And 개새끼(gaesaekki) is a curse word, which I tend to translate as ‘dog fucker’ to preserve the ‘dog’ in it. So what Jo Uisin did here was replace dog in 개새끼(gaesaekki) with surname ‘Gye’.

[3] “… Sorry.” — I don’t think it can be misinterpreted in English in this situation, but just in case. Korean has a different word for when you apologize to someone, because you did wrong and it’s your fault, and a different word when you express pity towards someone and feel ‘sorry’ for them. 미안하다(mianhada) used here is the former. So Jo Uisin’s interpretation is completely valid this time.

[4] However, weren’t there otherworlds and Enemies, natural disasters, etc. in this world about which nothing could be done with the power of law? — it doesn’t translate well into English, but the word for ‘violence’ is 폭력(pongnyeok), 폭(pong) for wicked/evil and 력(r/nyeok) for power. So, Jo Uisin sets it as the other side of the coin to ‘power of law’.

Translator’s note: Ah, yes~ This is where I can say that Gye Idam is one of my favorite characters. Let’s see how this one person can fold the characters’ and the readers’ morals.

Its a ration of 95-5 tho) I quite like how he’s quitr well written bit damn am I so pissed off whenever he gets mentioned. If im like this and I didnt witnrss stuff difectly, imagine what those two felt. Those two are scary tho (which is why I feel a bit sorry that Gye Idam got their wrath)

This is so funny because I lost count on how many times fucker was mentioned. Its so rare to see Uisin, someone who’s been noted to be polite curse so much in a si gle chapter lol

    1. And I was looking forward people reading them! Glad to have another Gye Idam’s enjoyer. I’m sure we both will be having a blast the next few chapters.
