56. Mistake (5)
Hwang Myeong-ho’s great mansion’s side building.
Instead of the main building in the maze garden, Hwang Jiho guided us to the side building.
Among various styles of side buildings, the one Hwang Jiho chose was a modern building with the most recent facilities.
I could guess why we came to the side building instead of the main building.
‘It would also probably be because there is an outsider, Cheon Dongha, but the main reason would be to avoid running into Eun-ho’s descendants.’
Eun-ho and Eun-ho’s descendants had a grandparent and grandchildren relationship.
That said, as they didn’t see each other faces even once, meeting right now didn’t seem like a particularly good idea.
‘It seems like they won’t make him face the descendants right away. Because Eun-ho and the descendants still don’t know about each other… It’s better that they take a bit of time.’
The firstborn Eun Seoho was sixteen, so there was no way that Eun-ho, who was asleep for a long time, knew about their existence.
He said he played PMH as Cheon Seong-heon, but Eun-ho’s descendants weren’t mentioned in that gamewreck.
If they met right now, the confusing thoughts and feelings and the like would only increase.
As both the grandfather and grandchildren were completely unprepared, we would first give them time and observe, and then get both sides to start talking with each other.
“Sit down comfortably.”
At Hwang Jiho’s words, Eun-ho, who was walking straight until a moment ago, naturally grabbed a seat and sat down.
At a glance, there didn’t seem to be any problems, but I saw a silver superpower wave shimmer and disappear.
‘You were walking with the assistance of superpower wave, huh?’
While moving, Eun-ho didn’t borrow other Ho tribe members’ hands.
Even so, did he not completely recover his body functions?
As he was sleeping for a long time, it probably couldn’t be helped.
‘Cheon Dongha seems to be more worried about Eun-ho than the tigers.’
As if the Ho tribe members understood that he was trying to walk with his own feet, they left him alone, so only Cheon Dongha was restless.
It was only after they finished moving and sat down that he seemed relieved.
“You seem familiar with it, eh?”
Hwang Jiho spoke up while serving Baimudan tea[1] in the cups finished with silver.
Hearing those words, I could guess why Hwang Jiho brought Eun-ho to the modern building instead of a hanok.
“In addition, when boarding the shuttle, you weren’t flustered, and after sitting on the sofa, you’ve skillfully adjusted the backrest angle. It doesn’t seem like the understanding of modern things coming simply from knowledge.”
The world I was in before wasn’t as technologically developed as this world, but Eun-ho learned about the modern things as Cheon Seong-heon.
If it was a modern person from the world I was in, it wouldn’t be difficult to adjust to, so Hwang Jiho would say that.
“Yes, thanks to personal experience, I physically learnt it.”
At Eun-ho’s answer, the tigers made complicated faces.
As Eun-ho, who they knew, slept the entire time after the myth era, it was a natural attitude.
“Tell us about what happened to you.” [2]
Eun-ho elegantly played with his hand to take a sip of tea and opened his mouth.
“After I fell asleep, my soul repeated reincarnation for a long time. I can’t remember them as clearly as my life from just moments ago, but I had a vague impression of them.”
Eun-ho started the story of after he fell asleep.
Eun-ho very shortly summarized the previous lives he remembered, but there was nothing light about them.
Things were so heavy that even the face of the expressionless Baek Ho-gun darkened.
“… Even after the person, who had committed a great sin, reincarnates, they can’t live very long. Because my soul did not wander in this world but in a distant place, even if Heavenly God wanted to grant me mercy, He wouldn’t reach me.”
“Not in this world, but in a different world…”
Saying those words, Hwang Jiho looked at me.
Because his eyes were full of meaning, I felt pretty uneasy.
As I ignored him, Hwang Jiho’s gaze returned to Eun-ho.
“But did Heavenly God tried to help you?”
“Yes. Heavenly God came to me in the other world through a dream. Because a boundary exists in all worlds, but they’re connected through dreams.”
While saying this, Eun-ho looked at me.
“Uisin hyung, do You remember? I have told You that I always only dream the same dream. The one, who appeared in that dream was Heavenly God.”
Cheon Seong-heon told me about it.
Cheon Seong-heon almost never dream, but he said that he always had the same dream.
‘We’re talking about the dream where someone was looking down at Seongheon-yi, right? That was Heavenly God…!?’
Just after coming to this world, I didn’t think this place was a world within a game.
— I didn’t enter the game.
— You, who can’t do anything besides limited interference, summoned me to a different dimension. And you left an empty spot for a ‘supporting character’ in this world. And through information modification matched the past with mine, and gave me a game-like power. To change the future.
The Transcendent Universe expressed affirmation to those two comments.
At this point I already figured out that PMH wasn’t a simple game.
Even so, it was surprising that the chat I shared with the junior in the previous world, which had nothing to do with PMH, was in reality a clue connected to this world.
‘Wait, thinking about it now, at that time…’
As I recalled the content of the first communication with the Transcendent Universe, something bothered me.
— That game wreck was a screening process to select people to bring here, right?
At that time, the Transcendent Universe didn’t give any answer.
But for both the guess that I didn’t enter the game, and reasoning about the reason the Transcendent Universe called me to this world, my head was dyed green with the meaning of affirmation.
“… Uisin hyung?”
My thoughts halted at Eun-ho’s voice.
The tigers and Cheon Dongha were looking at me with worry.
“I remember. You have told me about this because I said I don’t dream.”
“Yes…! You remember!”
Eun-ho made a happy face, and both his expression and speech pattern were exactly like Cheon Seong-heon’s.
After that, Eun-ho briefly summarized his situation.
The main content was about him being Cheon Eunha, while being Cheon Seong-heon after being Eun-ho.
The appearance of Eun-ho explaining things one after another overlapped with the appearance of Cheon Seong-heon, when we were attending the university while he was giving a presentation as the group meeting representative during the class announcement.
With his expression so similar, if not for his silver hair, it seemed he would look just like Cheon Seong-heon.
‘The more I listen, the more it feels like it’s Seongheon-yi talking. They’re really the same existence, huh?’
Eun-ho, who finished the explanation about his situation, thanked the Ho tribe, which protected his body until now, and to me and Cheon Dongha, who took care of him as a junior and dongsaeng.
Eun-ho’s explanation ended, but there were still many doubts.
Considering the time he had been asleep, it was impossible to understand everything, having to explain in only this much time.
The first one to ask a question was Cheon Dongha.
“Can I ask one question?”
“Please speak, Dongha hyung.”
Cheon Dongha looked at me and Eun-ho, and then asked.
“It seems there were exchanges between you and Uisin-i. Did you perhaps meet with Uisin-i under the name ‘Seong-heon’ before you fell to the Locked-in Syndrome?”
From Cheon Dongha’s standpoint, the relationship between the junior he knew and his dongsaeng seemed more concerning, than the story of the myth era.
Cheon Dongha spoke of his guess with a complicated face.
“I made an investigation into Eunha before the Locked-in Syndrome. I had a feeling that the record was somewhat dry, as if it was processed. So I thought that it wasn’t complete somehow or was manipulated.”
It seemed that Cheon Dongha couldn’t even make the assumption that I came from another world.
So the conclusion Cheon Dongha made strangely had all the important things left out among the events that actually happened, but its beginning and the end were correct.
‘Rather, wouldn’t it be better if only this much is explained? I don’t want Cheon Dongha to step into even more dangerous and complicated matters.’
As if Eun-ho thought of the same, he only spoke the truth, while leaving out some facts.
“Even if You make a background check on Cheon Eunha, the record of a meeting with Uisin hyung as Cheon Seong-heon won’t come out.”
“When you asked not to bring Uisin-i, it was because Uisin-i, who was acquainted with you, would be worried about you?”
“Yes, I apologize I couldn’t tell You.”
“No, it was difficult for you to speak at that time. It was like that, huh…?”
Cheon Dongha nodded with an understanding face.
It seemed that as Cheon Eunha was a hidden illegitimate child of a chaebeol family, he thought it wasn’t strange that he hid his name when meeting other people.
“… Let’s finish today’s story here. Everyone seems tired.”
“Yes, although there were no big problems when Hwangho-nim checked on Uisin hyung before, I think He has to rest a bit.”
Was it because that I blanked out and replied late before?
Following Hwang Jiho, Eun-ho spoke like this, so I didn’t make any comment.
“Eun-ho, use this building for the time being as your temporary residence. Tell me anytime if you need anything.”
“You don’t have to do this. Because I still haven’t decide my residence.”
“What does it mean? It seems like you mean that you won’t be staying here, eh?”
“If Dongha hyung agrees, I plan to use ‘Cheon Eunha’ identity.”
At Eun-ho’s unexpected words, everyone, excluding Eun-ho, made a surprised face.
“I want to enter the Eungwang School next year as Cheon Eunha, and become a dormitory student.”
“You want to enter the Eungwang School? If you want an identity, it can be made right away on the Ho tribe side.”
It seemed that Hwang Jiho didn’t like Eun-ho words that he would live as Cheon Eunha.
At the words that he would be recognized as a member of the Ho tribe, Eun-ho shook his head.
“It would be safer if I was known to be asleep just like before. There would be little doubt about the existence of Eunha, the illegitimate child of the Cheon family. And considering the events in the future, it would be better for me to live as Cheon Eunha.”
The reactions at those words were divided.
Cheon Dongha was noticeably slightly welcoming to it, and the Ho tribe members openly showed disappointed attitudes.
“Did you read it in ‘heavenly secrets’ too? But because the myth era was different from the present, there would be a lot of variables…”
“I no longer have the ability to read heavenly secrets. Because I’m a criminal who went against the heavenly secrets.”
Eun-ho spoke to cut him off and looked at me.
“However I know about the events that will happen in the future. Though not as much as Uisin hyung.”
* * *
“Uisin hyung?”
“Baek-ho decided to watch over him. It will be fine.”
“If Baek-ho hyung-nim is watching him, I’m reassured.”
Around an hour ago, Cheon Dongha and Jeok-ho left the mansion to organize things around, so Eun-ho could use the identity of ‘Cheon Eunha’.
Jo Uisin said he would go to the dormitory after making his body into that, but when Eun-ho quietly talked to him, he lowered his tail[3] right away and decided to stay at the mansion.
Hwang-ho was happy about the fact that the methods to keep Jo Uisin at the mansion increased by one, but he felt a bit subtle that it was ‘the being he respects the most’.
“Hwangho-nim, What happened after I fell asleep?”
“Don’t you know everything?”
“What I know is limited.”
He was bothered by the story that what Eun-ho knew was limited, but Hwang-ho decided that he would answer first.
Hwang-ho told the story of the moment just after Eun-ho fell asleep.
The story of the days when the god’s voice gradually grew distant wasn’t very pleasant.
When he finished the story about Cheongho and Sinin.
Clink.
“… You mean Cheongho-nim became ‘Han Yi’, and Sinin-nim became ‘Gong Cheonghwon’?”
It felt that Eun-ho, who was well-versed in tea ceremony, was so shaken that he made a noise by hitting the tea set.
The fact they became humans was surprising, but it was the attitude as if Han Yi and Gong Cheonghwon were someone he knew.
“The important story is roughly over, so I’ll also ask questions.”
“If it’s related to the sin I have committed, I want to tell You about it in a place where other Ho tribe members are present.”
“What I’ll ask about is something different. I want to ask something related to the time when you were ‘Seong-heon’.”
At Hwang-ho’s words, Eun-ho put down his teacup, as he replied.
This time, the tea set didn’t make a sound.
“Because Hwangho-nim is curious about Uisin hyung’s identity, You have approached Him in the appearance of a highschooler, which You keep even now, correct? I want to hear how far have You guessed.”
“At first I thought that he might be a being that came from the future. But soon that possibility completely disappeared.”
“Why is that? Uisin hyung would have acted as if He knew the future.”
“Yeah. But there is no way that he is a being that came from the future. Because the future that Jo Uisin knows and in the future he shows, Jo Uisin doesn’t exist.”
Hwang-ho spoke with a tone full of conviction.
“Jo Uisin existed in another world, and in that world, he probably met you. Didn’t you observe the future of this world from that place?”

[1] Baimudan tea — ‘white peony’ tea, used in herbal medicine for its anti-inflammatory effects. In floral language, peony generally means: ‘wealth and nobility’, ‘glory’, ‘dignity of a prince’ and ‘happy marriage’. But, ‘목단 (mukdan)’, the word which is used for peony here (in Korean usually a different word is used), can also mean shortsightedness (I think? Naver Dictionary definition is ‘Vision that doesn’t reach’, if I’m understanding it correctly)
[2] “Tell us about what happened to you.” — This is Hwang-ho’s sentence. I know it’s Hwang-ho’s sentence because there is no other bastard who randomly uses 하오체 tone (semi-formal, historical noble-like tone).
[3] lowered his tail — idiom for submissive attitude.
Translator’s note: *after staring at the suspicious sentences for a few hours* I see it. I see that narration trick. I shall not be deceived, hahahahaahaha! *stares with unblinking gaze into the void*
