EX-rank’s Replay (368)

59. True nature (3)

Playlist was in progress as a live broadcast, but not all of the broadcast video was being shot in the real time.

While the stage was being prepared, and the participants changed costumes, the pre-recorded interview videos and stage videos were being played.

“I guess that Person is really nervous… His state doesn’t look very good since He told us to flee.” [1]

“The Association is watching the group that came to cheer for that person. Isn’t it related to that?”

The company employee’s candidate’s video and stage got many ‘it’s lacking’ reviews.

He didn’t receive positive reviews for the first group performance during the opening, or for the pre-recorded video.

Even so, the broadcast continued as worthy of the Playlist’s last episode with the active work of the other performances and MCs.

To put in the sense of realism, the MCs Choe Jina and Yeom Junyeol were giving comments before and after the videos in the real time, thanks to the timing and ad-libs sometimes mixed in being all great, the audience was in a great awe.

It was difficult to think that it was the broadcast that was almost canceled due to the threat of the otherworld and Enemies.

What grabbed the attention wasn’t just the participants or the MC’s hosting.

“Wow… Looking through the screen, I can feel how well Yuri speaks.”

“I think Yuri’s pronunciation is clearer than the writer-nim.”

“Hahaha, thanks. Seniors did almost the entire interview, so I didn’t have much to do, but…”

Kim Yuri changed the topic, embarrassed.

In the pre-recorded interview video, Geun Chansol and Wang Chansol appeared before Kim Yuri.

Perhaps the writer recognized Geun Chansol and Wang Chansol as a duo, they were interviewed at the same time, and thanks to the two’s tight cooperation and answering at exactly the same time, they brought a lot of laughter.

“Now Miro’s video is going to come out! How was it when you watched it in person?” [2]

“Right, we couldn’t see the pre-recording stage, what a pity.”

The group that waited, Kim Yuri, Kwon Lena and Mok Uram, exchanged glances hearing those words, and then nodded.

It seemed that all the people, who saw Dokgo Miro’s stage in person had the same thought.

“Seeing the actual thing will be better than us talking about it!”

“Ye, I’ll refrain from spoilers.”

“Right. You have to see that marvelous stage by Yourself to understand its true essence.” [3]

The 1st year class 0’s children were curious about Dokgo Miro’s stage, but hearing those words, they decided to endure.

As they conversed while avoiding major stage spoilers, the Ham Geun-hyeong, who finished talking with the staff, returned to the audience seats.

“It seems it’s the turn for Dokgo Miro’s video to come out. Refrain from chatting.”

“Yes!”

Soon the close-up on Dokgo Miro’s face, staring directly into the camera, appeared on the screen, together with the caption introducing her.

In contrast with the last time when she looked straight at the camera, in this stage, Dokgo Miro only stared hard into the camera midst the powerful lighting and flashes.

Because of Dokgo Miro’s force, when she sent her gaze among the light without even blinking once, even the staff that was hustling around, stopped for a moment and looked at her on the screen.

The moment Dokgo Miro started to dance and sing, cheers erupted everywhere.

“This, it isn’t lip-syncing? It doesn’t seem like AR is turned on…!”

“How is she moving like this while singing!?”

The vocals that started on the high note from the intro.

The intense performance that seemed like an ordinary person would be utterly exhausted just after a few verses.

Dokgo Miro perfectly pulled those things off with a smiling face.

Dokgo Miro’s video was just around 3 minutes 25 seconds long.

It was a short time, but it wasn’t an easy thing to hold many independent gazes for more than a minute.

Even so, Dokgo Miro created a stage that one couldn’t take their eyes off as if halting the time for people in the studio.

Even the people, who watched that stage live at the time of recording, couldn’t take their eyes off the screen.

After Dokgo Miro on the other side of the screen finished the stage, smiled brightly and waved her hand, the audience, who was sitting in their seats, rewarded her with shouts, as if they all made a promise.

Whoaaa…!

Midst the audience’s cheers, Dokgo Miro’s homema, Jeong Haeon grasped her camera and bit her lips.

When Geun Chansol, who noticed that Jeong Haeon was holding back tears, patted her on the shoulder, she unknowingly pretended to look through the camera, but the tears were dripping on the camera.

“Hey, the results weren’t announced yet, what are you doing already crying?!”

“If you cry, your vision will be blocked. We came here, so we have to watch it all!”

“Haeon-ah, there is still a live stage left.”

At the 2nd year class 0’s students words, which one didn’t know if it was teasing or comforting, Jeong Haeon let out a crying shriek:

“Ah, I said I’m not crying!”

“Wipe your teas and then speak.”

With the lively scene in the background, the broadcast continued.

After the awkward interview with the colleague workers, that came to cheer for the company employee candidate, and the video of the stage with many mistakes ended.

At last the viewer voting to decide the Playlist winner started.

“Everyone on the Playlist, this is the last opportunity to choose Your Player!”

“From now on, the viewer voting starts!”

A code appeared on the screen.

In the audience, people started to busily move to vote on the candidate they each came to cheer on.

It was the same in the seats on the Eungwang School’s side.

“Uh… Am I doing it right?”

“Right! Hahaha, you don’t have to click several times. It will count once anyway.”

“Teacher Ham Geunhyeong-nim! Did teacher-nim also vote? You voted for Miro, correct?”

“Yeah, I did.”

The 1st year class 0’s children warmly cast their votes for Dokgo Miro.

The 2nd year class 0 also moved for Dokgo Miro.

As if they prepared for this situation beforehand, the 2nd year class 0’s students took out the fluorescence banners with a big name of Dokgo Miro on them, and looked around.

Geun Chansol and Wang Chansol, who found the camera, which tried to capture the scene of the audience voting through the devices right away, pounced.

They enthusiastically promoted Dokgo Miro in front of the lenses.

“2nd year class 0’s kids-ah, are you watching? You did vote, right?”

“Viewers-nim-ah, give power to Miro, please!”

As if the staff liked the cheerful appearance of the highschoolers thrusting themselves in front of the camera, they broadcast that scene for the whole country.

After the viewer voting form was opened, the voting status was updated in real time at a fixed time.

The ones in the lead were Yeo Raehun and Dokgo Miro, who showed overwhelming stages.

“Looking at the number of votes, it still falls completely short to the number that usually comes out. It seems there are many people who didn’t vote yet.”

“It seems that everyone is thinking of deciding after watching the live stage.” [4]

“Then now we’re running to the next stage, huh!”

“The order was announced. First is the employee candidate, next Yeo Raehun-ssi, and then Dokgo Miro.” [5]

Yeom Junyeol, standing in the host spot, announced the live performance sequence.

When everyone thought the winner will be decided after Dokgo Miro’s stage ends.

A sudden change occurred.

“… Uh? The numbers suddenly became strange.” [6]

“What? Did someone manipulate them?”

“What…?”

Suddenly the points for Yeo Raehun skyrocketed.

Considering that until a moment ago, the vote points were going up sluggishly, side by side, that number was strange.

The one to first figure out the reason for the phenomena was Jeong Haeon.

“It’s because of the news!”

“News…?”

On the other side, the staff was also figuring out this strange phenomena.

They made several checks if it wasn’t a problem with the vote calculations, but no problems occurred there.

“It’s strange. Just after the opening stage and pre-recorded clips ended, Miro an Raehun-i’s votes were going almost side by side. But suddenly Raehun-i… “

“Don’t you think it’s some kind of vote manipulation?”

“Raehun live stage didn’t air yet, why is he suddenly going up like this?”

After ordering to pull the time for advertisement for a moment, the key staff members like the writers and PDs had an emergency meeting.

The cause was soon revealed.

“That’s a big deal! An article came out a moment ago, and the incident is reported on the news flash report of another station!”

“It would become known anyway. Why is it so noisy?”

“That’s right, but… this…”

Choe Jina, who unfolded several holographic screens and checked the content of all reports, drew a conclusion.

“The other broadcast station is reporting about the otherworld conquest a moment ago. Perhaps a person who was here leaked it out, but the content they made public is pretty detailed. It’s certain that that news report is influencing the Playlist’s voting right now.”

“… No way, Yeo Raehun-ssi’s story came out in that news report?”

Choe Jina nodded.

“They’re reporting with the focus on Yeo Raehun-ssi making a barrier and that there were no victims among ordinary people. They also said that Playlist’s live broadcast is currently in progress.”

After those words, everyone shut their mouths.

Yeo Raehun was a famous Player under the name of ‘Saint of Naejang Mountain’.

Without taking down any Enemies or conquering any otherworld, Yeo Raehun saved so many lives he received an alias.

There were not a one or two people in the public, who remembered his name and held a favorable impression of him.

There were many people who cast the vote just because of the recent news about Yeo Raehun, regardless of the stage.

“… They saw a beautiful story about Yeo Raehun-ssi and voted. Not because of the broadcast.”

Choe Jina spoke with a cold voice.

Even though those people didn’t watch the ‘Playlist’ and didn’t plan to watch it, the seemed to throw their vote to Yeo Raehun.

Even on SNS, the activities of Yeo Raehun as the Saint of Naejang Mountain, this incident, and the Playlist’s story was spreading.

Facts outside the contest were shaking up the contest.

“What should we do about the voting right now?”

“Up till now, Yeo Raehun and Dokgo Miro were fighting over 1st and 2nd place, but… Now Yeo Rahun took an overwhelming lead.”

“There is still Yeo Raehun’s live performance left! They voted without even seeing the stage?”

“Then our pro, Miro…!”

“Wouldn’t it be better to halt it even now?”

The voices of concern grew louder, when the person concerned appeared.

“I’m fine.”

It was Dokgo Miro.

Beside her stood Yeo Raehun with a dark face, so it seemed that they heard the entire content of the staff’s conversation just now.

Dokgo Miro knew very well in how disadvantageous situation she was put in.

But Dokgo Miro asked the staff with a firm voice.

“Please continue the broadcast as it is.”

After I finished talking with Cheongryong and Yeom Bangyeol.

I watched the Playlist mixed among the Yong tribe and Red Lion members.

The Playlist watched through the ultra-high definition and ultra large screen and with the sound equipment much better than the movie theater, inviting to appreciate the broadcast Yeom Junyeol participated in, was special.

‘It was a pity I couldn’t watch it in reality, but that’s not so bad either.’

My Playable Characters Yeo Raehun and Yeom Junyeol, and Kim Yuri, who appeared for an interview.

Our class kid Dokgo Miro.

It felt fine even to watch their performances in the high quality facility.

‘There seems to be something strange about the current viewer voting calculation situation, but…’

When I saw the sudden change in the vote graph and tried to guess the reason for it.

Yong Jegeon spoke up.

“Uisin-ah, it seems one more guest is coming. He seems to be looking for you.”

“Yes? Right now?”

What the hell, someone already came?

Yong Jegeon was smiling with an ecstatic face from some point.

“Ye, he is at the entrance. Opportunely, they’re showing ads right now, so I’ll go bring him.”

It seemed that the Ho, who could enter the Yong tribe’s territory was very close with Yong Jegeon.

Seeing Yong Jegeon make such a face, I had a guess about the identity of that Ho.

“Yong Jegeon’s only friend is coming, eh?”

“It has been a long time. What name is he using now?”

And before the ads ended, that Ho guest arrived.

As if he had exchanges with the Yong tribe too, I heard greetings for that guest here and there.

“Long time no see. The name I’m using right now is Kim Sinrok.”

The guest’s identity was the Ho tribe descendant, Kim Sinrok.

Translator’s note: At this point I can’t tell if trying to figure out the goal behind leaking the information and pushing Yeo Raehun forward is a completely normal thing to do, or am I just too deep. My guess would be that it was some preemptive measure of one side of the conflict…. Yeah, no, I’m too deep.

Did you see a mistake? 🐞

Only the lighting director was the one who spoke up, but there were still some people who agreed with that guy. Also, I guess you can day that its to tarnish “Eungwang High” in a way where they could paint the light that stufents there doesnt care about conquering othwrrworlds and focused only on the broadcast, or that because they originally bullied Miro?

Idk, Wan, I dont think you’re going too deep, there’s just many possible reasons… (well, I maybe I am in the abyss with you XD)

    Thanks for the chapter~

    1. Nishicchi, I’m afraid that we both may be so deep that in the darkness you didn’t notice that I’m being slowly swallowed by the ground. My thinking was side-glancing the possibility that it wasn’t a move by DM but a sacrifice on some part of some other party.

Thank you for reading and being with me in the abyss~

Woaaaah I caught up🥲 hmm, the leak could be bc Namkung group’s candidate failed, so now they want Raehun to win as he represents something that Miro isn’t—assuming namkung group is involved. But what does that mean? He’s a mountain saint, interestingly he doesn’t conquer other worlds or defeat enemies. So him winning would have no(?) effect on raising the status of players? Since he already doesn’t participate? But if Miro won, it would open the gate for players to become idols and do other activities??? Maybe it is to attack the students of Eungwang High???

It also could be a plot device to make Miro go through more obstacles before epically winning the competition with her live. (She gonna win right????)

So many questions, I am confusion.

Anyways sorry for the ramble, but thanks for the translation! This is such a comfort series, despite Uisin giving me pain when he gives himself pain.

    1. Haha, sorry for probably leading you into even more confusion… but I also have many questions, so we’re in it together.

Don’t worry about rambling, I’m enjoying reading them, thank you for reading!

  3. I’m very happy because every time I check, Wan has updated! Thank you for your hard work, please rest well too!

    1. The mysteries of strict release schedule are miraculous and unfathomable. Thank you for reading! I’m resting well, and I hope you’re too!
