51. Student representative general election (2)

Jeok-ho didn’t get a wink of sleep and left the mansion early in the morning.

Though he was said to be downgraded, there was no way that the body of a Legend category Ho, who lived for over five thousand years, would experience abnormalities after not sleeping for one day, but he suffered from mental fatigue.

‘Pungbaek, Usa, Unsa… I didn’t expect those names to come out again.’

It couldn’t be imagined in the modern era, after the myth era ended and the world of gods and humans were clearly divided, but in the distant past, it wasn’t uncommon for humans to rise to the positions of gods, and for gods to abandon their divine position and live among humans.

After Sinin, who had the blood of Heavenly God and a human, decided to live on the ground, there were three gods who left their godly positions to follow him.

Those three gods, who hosted the rain-calling and rain-ceasing ceremonies with Sinin were Pungbaek, Usa and Unsa.

Compared to Heavenly God, who literally stood for Heaven, the three had a lower divine position, but it couldn’t had been an easy decision.

The three, who followed Sinin, while abandoning those divine positions, finally died protecting Sinin from the foreign enemies.

No, to speak precisely, they were thought to have died.

‘At that time, the one protecting Sinin and Eun-ho would be Cheong-ho and her disciples, right? They said that while Cheong-ho and her disciples were blocking the foreign enemies, they let them escape.’

After foreign enemies called the Darkness to cover the sky of Korean Peninsula, Sinin couldn’t display his power and Eun-ho was originally weaker than other Tigers.

While Cheong-ho and her disciples bought time, Sinin, Eun-ho and their closest confidants left the place.

But Cheong-ho’s defense position crumbled, and the foreign enemies’ attack continued.

Thanks to Eun-ho’s wisdom and Hwang-ho’s cooperation, Sinin survived, but Eun-ho and Cheong-ho were seriously injured, and Cheong-ho’s disciples were largely annihilated[1].

At that time, he was informed about Pungbaek, Usa and Unsa’s death.

Pungbaek and Usa, who called rainstorms on a whim.

Unsa, who called dark clouds with a softly smiling face.

What he recalled was just faces they made when taking revenge on Jeok-ho, who played a prank, but an overpowering yearning raised in him.

‘How can my close friends accept it so calmly?!’

Putting aside Hwang-ho, who heard Jo Uisin’s story beforehand and shut himself on the 5th floor alone, to act pitiful while gathering his thoughts, he couldn’t understand why Baek-ho was so calm.

Moreover, according to what Hwang-ho said, the moment trouble occurs in Eungwang School, wouldn’t they sprinkle evil snow?

At the thought about those three, Jeok-ho’s mind gradually darkened.

“Hello.”

What brought Jeok-ho back to his senses was the voice of his sole remaining family.

In front of the school faculty exclusive entrance, stood Kim Sinrok with his original face covered with the face-changing technique.

Today Kim Sinrok planned to take half a day off and go visit the Association, and Jeok-ho promised to follow Kim Sinrok as an escort.

“… Did something happen?”

Kim Sinrok asked carefully.

Pungbaek, Usa and Unsa died before Kim Sinrok was born.

There probably were no people to tell Kim Sinrok the story of those three.

If they were connected to the trouble that would occur at Eungwang School someday, it was necessary to inform Kim Sinrok beforehand.

If so, Jeok-ho wanted to personally tell the story related to those three to his son.

“Do you want to have a drinking party at the mansion in the evening? I want to talk about my old battle comrades.”

At the words of old battle comrades, Kim Sinrok opened his eyes wide.

The people worthy of the title of Jeok-ho’s old battle comrades, were only the people who dominated the myth era.

At the words that he would hear the story of those days directly from his admired father, Kim Sinrok couldn’t hide his excitement.

“I don’t know about Hwang-ho, but Baek-ho should be free, so I’ll call him.”

“Yes!”

Even though it was a sudden suggestion, Kim Sinrok replied brightly.

Looking at his son, who grew up well[2], Jeok-ho made a face full of pride.

But as he put the name of Baek-ho in his mouth, who made such an excellent son fainted, he added, because of the sudden surging feeling of rage:

“It would be good to prepare side-dishes to eat. The dried persimmons dishes you like will be excellent, huh?”

“… Yes!”

Kim Sinrok hesitated for a moment, but decided to follow his father’s words.

Even on the way to torture a human trash, who participated in manipulating highschooler’s mind to commit a terrorist attack, his steps towards the association were extremely bright and cheerful.

Thanks to his close friends and son, Jeok-ho was able to regain his composure again.

* * *

Student Council’s president Yeom Junyeol.

Be it in PMH or in this world, it was a word combination not yet used, but it was extremely fitting.

My amazing, prudent, kind, deeply considerate and overflowing with desire to improve disciple, a candidate of the Student Council’s president of Korea most prestigious highschool?!

Of course, the current Student Council’s president Tao Wonu was also almost perfect, but regretfully he had a flaw of being corrupt.

‘In the game, the next year Student Council president was Gwak Gyeong-gu.’

In PMH, Yeom Junyeol couldn’t be a Student Council’s president candidate, because he was studying for a short term abroad.

He was asked to return to the country for a while to just participate in the election, but Yeom Junyeol didn’t like to challenge for the Student Council’s president position with such an insincere attitude.

As a result, it was Gwak Gyeong-gu, who participated as a candidate.

‘Student Council president Gwak Gyeong-gu also wasn’t bad.’

Gwak Gyeong-gu didn’t lack anything in terms of superpowers, grades, character and personality, and in addition to working diligently at the Student Council from the 1st year, he had good relationship with the teachers and other students.

At that time, if the students were to point out a detriment of Gwak Gyeong-gu representing Eungwang School, was that he looked older, not like a highschooler.

Because since his 1st year, when Gwak Gyeong-gu wore casual clothes, it was hard to tell if he was a teacher or a student.

Even so, there was a story that his looks rather installed trust, so his election was almost certain.

‘But because of Choe Pyeondeuk cutting in, that story became complicated.’

Choe Pyeondeuk’s gang hated the student self-governed organization to the extreme.

As the chairman was neglectful, the head of school affairs Jegal Jaegeol was eliminated in the 1st semester, and he was picking up the people who suited his taste for the teacher board, the teacher side was being slowly organized, but he couldn’t do that with the students’ side.

Especially because of the influence of Seong Gukeon, the Eungwang School’s Student Council’s president 15 years ago, the student self-governed organizations were deeply related to the school’s management.

He had to grab the school and sway it according to proper taste[3], so there was no way that outstanding students with fire in their eyes, would look pretty.

So Choe Pyeondeuk interfered with the student representative general election.

‘He tried to fuck it up using my timid Playable Character.’

Although that student had a soft and weak-kneed nature, thanks to her sincere personality, that student got along rather well with the students and teachers around.

Because of that, that student was put up as a candidate, to be a Student Council’s president acting as a figurehead for Choe Pyeondeuk.

At the same time, Choe Pyeondeuk and his followers were increasing the number of students, whose weaknesses they captured for the price of spilling problems at school, and those students wrote recommendation for that Playable Character and used all kinds of negative tactics against Gwak Gyeong-gu.

‘Mun Saeron reviewed it as the most dirty election in the Eungwang School’s history.’

Though he was said to had reformed himself thanks to Ju Su-hyeok, Gwak Gyeong-gu had a time when he became crooked.

After he turned 17 and awakened his Gwangrim, Gwak Gyeong-gu was said to not like that Gwangrim, and became a teen delinquent.

A representative incident was when he bought a box of soju and drank them in front of the dojo, and was beaten up with a soju bottle by his father, master Gwak.

Choe Pyeondeuk and his followers used the School Magazine Editorial Club to expose that drinking incident and pushed for Gwang Gyeong-gu to resign.

‘Seeing this gave my clever Playable Character courage…. With that incident opened her eyes to a special ability.’

My Playable Character, who was abruptly in the crisis of becoming Choe Pyeondeuk’s figurehead, drank the hard liquor[4] she received as a gift from her father and posted proof shoots on the Eungwang School’s general bulletin board.

Gwak Gyeong-gu, who drank soju before entering Eungwang School and was severely punished by his father.

That Playable Character, who drank hard liquor after entering Eungwang School, during the election period, took it as proof as if boasting about it and didn’t receive any punishment.

Considering the seriousness of the misconduct between the two, the latter was naturally heavier, but this matter didn’t progress smoothly.

It was a desperation to resign, but Choe Pyeondeuk’s gang pulled a bloody shield of double-standard saying ‘Is it so hard, that she drinks?’ and ‘Gwak Gyeong-gu supporters have no rights to curse that child’ and tried to bury that incidents.

With this, Choe Pyeondeuk’s gang one-sidely throwing dirt, the 2nd year class 0 joined the fight.

‘They protected the Newspaper Club, which tried to report the incident neutrally, punished the School Magazine Editorial Club, which spread rumors and fake news about Gwak Gyeong-gu, blocked them from taking manipulative pictures of the incident they caused and…’

Thanks to my Playable Character’s efforts to avoid becoming a scarecrow Student Council president, the 2nd year class 0’s commitment, and Gwak Gyeong-gu’s sincerity to lead the silent election with a head-on battle method, the votes leaned towards Gwak Gyeong-gu.

At the last stage, Choe Pyeondeuk’s gang tried to put their hands on the ballot box, but that was stopped thanks to Tao Wonu, who was the Student Council’s president at that time and the Guideline Club president Oh Hyeji.

They kept enduring because if they made a wrong sound, they could cause another controversy under a pretext of ‘the heads of autonomous organizations, who should maintain neutrality, interfering in the general election’, but the crime of trying to mess up with the ballot box couldn’t be tolerated.

The teacher, who caused the incident, barely avoided getting her hand cut off by Oh Hyeji’s single-edged blade, but couldn’t avoid getting fired.

As she was caught touching the ballot box by two chebeol’s children, it was difficult to save her neck, and Choe Pyeondeuk attempted to cut off his tail.

After indescribable difficulties, Gwak Gyeong-gu became the Student Council’s president and he protected the place well as a good Student Council’s president, until he left to be replaced by Ju Su-hyeok.

Of course, this time no such thing will happen.

‘Yeom Junyeol nominated Gwak Gyeong-gu as the Student Council’s president. In this world, I probably won’t be able to see the Student Council’s president Gwak Gyeong-gu, huh?’

Gwak Gyeong-gu stepped back, as there were no one causing a mess at school, but he originally didn’t like standing at the front.

Gwak Gyeong-gu would make a good running mate for Yeom Junyeol.

‘If nothing happens, the Student Council’s president will be Yeom Junyeol, the Guideline Club’s president will be Cheon Dongha, and the Wings Council’s president Gye Idam. The problem is the General Club Council’s president…’

In the game, it didn’t get any attention, because the Playable Characters gathered around the Student Council’s president election, and it became an extreme mess, but the General Club Council’s president election was also chaos itself.

The position of the General Club Council’s president was extremely avoided because it was a lot of work, but this time for some reason, the candidates put up arms as if it was a warlord battle.

Because of the opinion about the election method, that ‘As the 3rd years club presidents and vice club presidents will graduate soon, the 1st and 2nd years should also be able to participate’, a debate sprouted up at the general bulletin board to change the voting method.

Mun Saeron revealed interest in this mess and plans to cover it in depth.

‘In the game, Mun Saeron was swept in the Student Council’s president election, rampaging with the fake news, but this time she can cover what she really wants, huh?’

As my Playable Character was doing what she wanted, my mood became very good.

“Uisin-ah, what happened? You’re smiling suspiciously. Ah, the suspicious is meant as a compliment!”

I have no idea who thought the word ‘suspicious’ was a praise, but I decided to agree as it was Sawol Seeum who said that.

“Okay, thank you. What I was just looking at was the student representative general election notice…”

After I informed him that Yeom Junyeol stepped out as a candidate for the Student Council’s president, Sawol Seeum smiled brightly, while saying he thinks Yeom Junyeol will become a good Student Council’s president.

He didn’t say it directly, but it seemed that Sawol Seeum would vote for Yeom Junyeol.

We talked about the student representative general election for a while, but the conversation topic quickly changed to Dokgo Miro’s appearance in the Playlist and the exchange.

No matter what, it seemed that the highschoolers had more interest in the sport and the survival show program where their class friend appeared in, rather than elections for the positions.

“Ah, right. Who is going to see basketball today? Uisin said from the beginning he is going to see basketball and…”

“I and Geurin.”

Sawol Seeum’s words were abruptly cut off by Song Daeseok.

Unlike me, who was going to see all basketball matches, the class children rotated so they could see all the games evenly, so the group changed every day, and today the group was me, Sawol Seeum, Min Geurin and Song Daeseok.

“Then do You want to go to eat together after the match ends?”

“I want to go.”

“If Geurin is going, then me too.”

“I heard you talked about the fish-cake bars before and wanted to eat them, so… I want an extra spicy fishcake and slice-cheese rice cake fish-cake bar.”

With those words, the children gathered with each of their groups to decide the menu.

Regretfully, it seemed I wouldn’t be able to hang out with them there.

While watching for the timing to refuse, I recalled the parties I had appointment today with.

The parties I was meeting this evening were the two next student representatives, Yeom Junyeol and Cheon Dongha.

[1] annihilated — our favorite 사망하다 (samanghada), which could mean to fabricate/lie, or to hope.

[2] grew up well — well could mean ‘well-balanced’ or ‘handsome’.

[3] proper taste — I added proper here, because I have no idea whose taste the narration is referring to, so I can’t easily put ‘his’ here.

[4] hard liquor — called ‘western alcohol’ in Korean.

Translator’s note: What is this disgusting sandwich chapter? The beginning and the end were delicious, but the middle? Ughr…

  2. That was how Heo Chae-a was bullied in the game huh? Poor kid. When Choe Pyeon-deuk’s machinations in the game are revealed, I’m becoming more inclined that maybe him getting thrown in the red rack wasn’t enough of a punishment. What if take him out, let what the kids hunting do whatever they want and then throw him back again?

    Thanks for the chapter, Wan.

    1. Yeah, she should also get her chance at shot.
